The Common Redpoll survives Arctic cold by burrowing into snow ❄️
Snow traps air, making it a powerful insulator against wind and freezing temperatures.
This watercolor comes from my Arctic terrestrial birds poster.

The Little Auk is the most abundant alcid in the Arctic! But it's so tiny! It's part of the alcid family, just like puffins and razorbills.

Its name in French "guilemot with mirror" refers to the white β€œmirror” patch, which helps distinguish it easily from other species.
