๐๐๐ Snow bunting, female The Snow bunting (Plectrophenax nivalis) is a medium-sized songbird of the Arctic regions. Males are mostly white with a black back and tail, while females are more mottled brown and white. They are often seen in large flocks, flying in a rolling wave-like motion. These birds are typically found in open, treeless areas, such as tundra, moorland, and coastal areas. During winter, they migrate southwards. Four subspecies are recognised.
