This #Roman #gravestone comes from #Ardoch Roman Fort, Scotland. Dating to AD80-100, it reads "To the spirits of the departed Ammonius, son of Damio, #centurion of the First Cohort of Spaniards, of 27 years service. His heirs had this erected". #Hunterian Museum Collection.

The southern “anchor” of the Gask Ridge Frontier, is it the best site (5-stars) in #RomanScotland?
