Question #37:

What are your goals with your art, short-term or long-term?

#artgoals #artcommunity #question #qna #artists #artcareer #artsky

0 0 1 0

Big reason why I want my art business to grow and perhaps get wealthy from it:

So I can support all the artists/vendors at vendor fairs, cons, etc.

✨ 2026 goal check ✨
One of my big goals this year was to learn animation.
I’m still learning, still rough around the edges, but I’m doing it. And honestly? That alone feels huge πŸ’—
Please enjoy the process as I go~

β€œThe Princess of NudiMer Palace” - A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of a blue nudibranch-like mercreature (a NudiMer) sitting in a window opening of a stone undersea castle, looking out to the right. They are framed by the stone walls.
The Nudimer’s arm is stretched out to touch the right side of the window, their head is in profile, and their tail is curled up close to their body to fit onto a window cushion of red and purple corals and pink sea anemones.
The Princess is coloured in shades of blue like the blue sea dragon nudibranch, with spots of darker blue on their body. They have white scale highlights on their tail. They have enormous black eyes and a blue crest on the back of their head. The end of their tail is large and palmate, with webbing between the ribs.
They are wearing gold jewelry; their tail has a gold bracelet that attaches with chains to gold points on their tail, and they have a matching piece on their head crest. There is a gold chain skirt made of chain between large gold beads around their hips that stretches 3/4 of the way down their tail, and they have a decorative four-band armlet on the arm resting on the side of the window.
Inside, on the stone wall to the right is a blue crab crawling down. Outside the window are a red seahorse, a green fish, a light brown spotted octopus swimming by, and a sea bottom landscape in shades of green and yellow. The water is light greenish yellow, with light coming down from the surface of the water (not visible).

A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of a large white hare staring at the viewer face on, from the shoulders up. He has large red eyes with black pupils, pink nose and inner ears, tall ears that end ant the top corners of the drawing, and one front paw up on the border of the drawing, breaking through the border.
He is wearing a wreath of poppies and a gold headdress, which is visible only between his eyes, a gold triangle with red cabochon stones. He also has a gold double earring connected by three gold chains in the ear on the left.
The border is 1/2 inch wide, green, edged with gold, around the entire picture. At the bottom is an arrangement of red three poppies, green poppy leaves, and poppy buds that rise above the border in places, as if it is a window. All the poppies with visible centers in the drawing have gold stamens.
A green ribbon-style banner edged with gold sits across the chest of the hare, the left bottom curl drawn over the border of the drawing. The banner reads KING HARE in red decorative uppercase letters (I developed this font based on a number of 19th century fonts, edged with gold.
Within the border, the background is a soft green, with darker green-grey shadow outlining the hare and poppies.
Hare and poppy reference from vintage postcards (1898-1915), personal collection.

β€œThe Adoration of Saint Egwin” - A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of a frog with a halo and a small cicada sitting at the top of a tan mountain rock, looking up at a gold star.
The sky is deep blue, with white stars scattered across it. Top right is a big gold star.
The frog is green, with darker green stripes along their body. They are in profile, facing right, looking up with wide eyes. The halo around the frog is a Victorian-style fancy halo with a gold round ring with points around the outside tipped with white pearls, and a gold line coming out of the pearls. The outline of the ring is edged with gold dots, and the center around the frog’s head outlined with gold lines like rays.
To the right of the frog, is a flying cicada, with their front legs raised in adoration. The cicada’s wings are metallic green, outlined in gold, and their eyes are red.
St. Egwin was a 7th century Aristocratic English bishop who was reprimanded for being too harsh on his priests, so he went on a penitential pilgrimage to Rome, and being REALLY penitent, the legend says he did the whole thing in leg shackles, the key to which he threw in the river Avon. When he got to Rome, he supposedly found the key in the belly of a fish he bought in the market in Rome. This is a completely ridiculous story, but the Catholic Church had to do something to make the early saints who weren’t martyred stand out. He founded the Benedictine Monastery of Evesham in England.

A ink and paint pen drawing of an ermine (stoat) standing on rocks, with his head turned to the right, his body facing left. He is wearing a gold crown with blue-irised eyeballs set as gems, blood dripping from them. His front paws are bloody, and there is blood spattered on his face and chest. He is smiling.
On the rocks below his bloody paws is written β€œKING ERMINE DECORATES HIS CROWN WITH HUMAN EYEBALLS”, in Art Nouveau Rennie Mackintosh-style letters, as if this is an illustration in a Victorian storybook.
I was thinking of how many stoats have been killed for their coats and tails to make robes for English aristocracy. The revenge would be epic, if ermines chose to rise up. And very bloody.

✦ January Update ✦

I was a little slow on art this month BUT I managed to squeeze out a whole 3 comms on VGen and now I'm on my way to getting verified! I think that's a damn good start

It was on there 3 times to make sure I got enough for the 3 reviews required β™‘

Honestly, I wouldn't have noticed that there was anything wrong with the hand if you hadn't mentioned it, but thanks for making me feel better. If even you struggle with hands, maybe I can give myself a break. πŸ˜…

Anyway, this is gorgeous. Love the colors and details on the fabric. #artgoals

🌟 I was really into those #artgoals bingo boards ppl were posting earlier this month, but I had to think about how one might be useful to me. Here's the result! I built this out so most "bingos" would require all sorts of different aspects of art.

It's a nice list of possibilities :) #art

I decided to join in on the #artbingo2026 bandwagon, and this is my bingo board for the year!

I color coded it, so blue are easier ones, purple are medium difficulty, and pink are harder. Did I try and make it a sudoku puzzle with extra steps? Maybe >_>;
