I have no idea how to even start describing this. Okay, in the background there is a traditional Japanese village on a hill. On the foreground, it's a white structure that vaguely resembles a seashell. It's made of metal but it's actually "lace" made of various scripts from various languages. oh and it's actually the roof of a building made of glass, that happens to be the welcome center of the island. Does it made any sense?

What's inside of the cupboard: a small statue of the goddess Benzaiten in mermaid form. It was made with eraser crumbs collected from erasing the drawings mentioned in the other picture. She is the fisherman's dream.

One thing I love about the Setouchi Triennale, and a lot of installation art is that it makes real and tangible an unreal and imaginary world. For example this artwork from Yoshitaka Nanjo on Shamijima.
