Like many artists of the Arts and Crafts era Traquair worked in a variety of mediums, from embroideries, manuscript illumination, bookbinding, enamelwork, furniture decoration, and mural decoration.

This painting revealed itself to me as I was walking down to Ocean Terminal. I'd never seen the sky look so blue, and a boat look so red, nor the crane so yellow.

And then Collective Eggspectation arrived all in a rush a few weeks later. Both are pictures about friendship, community, the shared work of holding each other up.
