Committee shifts Creative Industries grants out of Art in Public Places and drops proposed 1% pay raise Lawmakers moved Creative Industries grants away from the Art in Public Places fund and, because recurring capacity was limited, committee staff said the proposed 1% public-employee raise will not be funded in this reconciliation package.

New Mexico lawmakers have shifted Creative Industries grants out of the Art in Public Places fund, leaving public employees without the proposed 1% pay raise this year!

DCMS freelance champion should investigate ‘systemic barriers’ – Creative UK The government's new ‘creative freelance champion’ should launch formal inquiries into ‘systemic’ roadblocks faced by freelancers, Creative UK has suggested.

8/12 Trump commandeered the Kennedy Center's board of trustees and installed himself as chair.

He dropped progressive programming, promoted Les Misérables for a sold-out five-week run, and will personally host the annual awards ceremony.

Notably absent from Council Chair Nicholas Serota's support list are Baroness Fleet, stepping down soon, and Abiogail Pogson, a key figure in arts politics. Their lack of backing for "Let's Create" signals a policy in crisis. What’s your take?

Queering Art Education: Content, Pedagogy, and Advocacy
Editors: Courtnie N. Wolfgang and Kevin Hsieh
Section I - Content: Chapter proposals for this section of the book explore how art + design are outlets for self-expression; finding a sense of belonging; resistance; and constructing new cultures related to gender and sexual identities. The focus on this section will be how artists challenge societal and inequitable norms, as well as how queering art + design content encourages empathy and promotes justice in art + design classrooms.

Section II - Pedagogy: This section will feature pedagogical strategies for queering art + design education: strategies for the k12 classrooms, museum settings, + community spaces, as well as other sites for teaching + learning. We encourage practice-oriented proposals in the form of teaching strategies and lesson plans (teaching strategies that authors use in their own teaching that encourage learners to create their own understandings of what it meant as queerness) as well as research + theory-oriented proposals that investigate the broad implications of queering pedagogical practice.

Section III - Advocacy: This section will feature chapters offering frameworks, policy, or strategies that advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusion, representation, + rights in classrooms, school systems, communities, histories, and futures; global perspectives framing the ongoing civil rights challenges for LGBTQ+ students and teachers; advocacy for LGBTQ+ visibility in art + design curricula; and addressing the need for accessible spaces where students can participate in arts + design learning without fear of discrimination, erasure, or violence.

#artists always get lost (as confirmed by former @ace_national CEO Peter Hewitt) in #artspolicy because their interests and needs aren’t aligned with #trickledown economic frameworks of the #arts funded or commercial, which are always more important to sustain where #funding is concerned.

But please let’s hear more about £support across all aspects of the much vaunted #ecosystem as at the grassroots - far from the salaried and secure posts - lie many many individual #artists and creators who are just managing having waited and waited for #artspolicy to care enough to put them first.
