Finished Arx Fatalis via latest Arx Libertatis within 3 days and it was still a pleasant experience. Great immersive sim, although I would've enjoyed longer end-game sections. By the time you get strong, there's not much left in the world.

Arx Fatalis PC video game screenshot. Shadow beast/dog jumps in through a hole behind the player, initiating an escape sequence, as the beast single-handedly wiped out the dwarf settlement and cannot be defeated by regular combat.
Once deeper levels became available, I descended to the lowest one to investigate what happened to the dwarves. Conclusion: a very hungry, angry shadow dog.
