Palm trees lining a quiet beach at Smoky Bay after a storm. The sand is pale and the water calm. The sky is glowing pink and purple from the clearing thunderstorm, with soft evening light across the shoreline.

We pulled over at Smoky Bay just as the storm broke apart and the whole sky shifted to pink. One of those small road-trip moments that feels bigger than it looks.

I skipped my monthly promotions. Nothing bad happened, I just went on a nice little road trip to Canberra. Here, enjoy some photos of the Australian capital instead of a featured story.

Honourable mention goes to WA! Yes, the whole state (and from a known Perth hater). I travelled from Broome to Bunbury and now I’m like “do I want to do a van life thing and drive around the whole of WA? Maybe!” I definitely want to see a lot more!

1) Alice Springs

This place is magic. The water is absolutely awful but if it’s off putting bits don’t put you off, just WOW! I want to move there, I am not kidding. It’s in my system forever now and I can’t wait to get back.

2) Uluru

What an honour to visit this ancient and sacred site! I walked the base of Uluru and shat in the most outback dunny imaginable. I’m absolutely enthralled by Central Australia, my new favourite place in the world.

3) Gold Coast

Ok these are all going to be first time visits. I was delighted by this boarder tourist town! I stayed with one of my oldest friends and we smoked blunts on the beach and talked shit about the clouds. Glorious!

4) Wilson’s Prom

Again, hadn’t been before. My Mom and I spent a couple days at Tidal River and it was glorious! I got thrashed by the seas at Squeaky Beach, saw SO MANY wombats (also a first), and just delighted in nature. I’ll definitely be back!

5) Canberra

I had never been to our nation’s capital before and was pleasantly surprised by its foresty beauty. I spent the day at the National Gallery Australia and now want to go back to visit the other museums and galleries.
