The Darwin Oil Storage Tunnels offered a calm step into the city’s wartime past. Cool underground chambers, simple displays and a quiet look at how Darwin prepared for air raids during WWII.

Adelaide River is more than a stop on the Stuart Highway. WWII history, quiet river country, and stories that linger long after you leave. A place to slow down and listen.

Quiet water, long pauses, and birds that don’t seem in a hurry.
Camooweal Billabong is one of those places where you slow down without trying.

Mount Isa kept us longer than planned. A gritty and fascinating outback city that rewards travellers who give it more than a quick overnight stop.

Palm trees lining a quiet beach at Smoky Bay after a storm. The sand is pale and the water calm. The sky is glowing pink and purple from the clearing thunderstorm, with soft evening light across the shoreline.
We pulled over at Smoky Bay just as the storm broke apart and the whole sky shifted to pink. One of those small road-trip moments that feels bigger than it looks.

Half a world away, the rugged and remote Kimberley region on Australia's northwest coast beckons with its own brand of wild beauty. #AustralianTravel #Australia

Australian Parliament House. A long white modern building with a giant flagpole on top, reflected perfectly in a fountain pond.
A front on shot of a mother grey kangaroo eating grass next to a green picnic table. A tiny joey's head can be seen poking out of her pouch.
A shot down a side walkway at the Hall of Memories of the Australian War Memorial. Concrete arches on the right wall show the reflecting pond and let in sunlight. The left wall has is lined with black panels full of names, with lines of vertical red poppies wedged between each panel.
A view of Canberra at sunset, with Parliament House in the centre of the shot, and the lake, and ANZAC avenue leading to the Australian War Memorial at the bottom of the picture. Bush and mountains surround the city.
I skipped my monthly promotions. Nothing bad happened, I just went on a nice little road trip to Canberra. Here, enjoy some photos of the Australian capital instead of a featured story.

Honourable mention goes to WA! Yes, the whole state (and from a known Perth hater). I travelled from Broome to Bunbury and now I’m like “do I want to do a van life thing and drive around the whole of WA? Maybe!” I definitely want to see a lot more!

1) Alice Springs
This place is magic. The water is absolutely awful but if it’s off putting bits don’t put you off, just WOW! I want to move there, I am not kidding. It’s in my system forever now and I can’t wait to get back.

2) Uluru
What an honour to visit this ancient and sacred site! I walked the base of Uluru and shat in the most outback dunny imaginable. I’m absolutely enthralled by Central Australia, my new favourite place in the world.

3) Gold Coast
Ok these are all going to be first time visits. I was delighted by this boarder tourist town! I stayed with one of my oldest friends and we smoked blunts on the beach and talked shit about the clouds. Glorious!

4) Wilson’s Prom
Again, hadn’t been before. My Mom and I spent a couple days at Tidal River and it was glorious! I got thrashed by the seas at Squeaky Beach, saw SO MANY wombats (also a first), and just delighted in nature. I’ll definitely be back!

5) Canberra
I had never been to our nation’s capital before and was pleasantly surprised by its foresty beauty. I spent the day at the National Gallery Australia and now want to go back to visit the other museums and galleries.
