On 6 March 1936, #AvroAnson, a new #British #twinengine #military #aircraft, entered operational service with No. 48 Squadron of the #RoyalAirForce.
Originally designed as land-based aircraft for maritime reconnaissance, it was used for #training #bomber crews and as a transport #aeroplane:

Captains of the Clouds (1942), directed by Michael Curtiz and starring James Cagney, features great video of vintage military training aircraft. Including the incredible two-engine #AvroAnson, North American Harvard, Northrop A-17A Nomad, and NA-64 Yale.
Not enough #Ansons were in the film.
It’s another #Monday with Afterburner #Airshow Photo!
Once a vital #trainer, #reconnaissance, and #transport #aircraft of the #RAF, the #AvroAnson is now a rare sight. Here, seen at #AviatickáPouť2025, its engines roar to life after a summer downpour — keeping #aviation #history in #flight.
