And like....agh. It's not even like #AwajimaHyakkei did anything *wrong* wrong either. It's just, narratively, it didn't do anything *right* either. Whole impact is vaporous and evaporative in a way that, I mean.....that's the negative Class-S stereotype I was gesturing at earlier lol.
Suffers a lot from the season it's airing in too. In another season it would benefit from being the gayest thing airing and like the 2nd or 3rd prettiest, but as it is it'll be lucky to be the 3rd gayest and 4th prettiest just on my list. It's staying on my list but only just. #AwajimaHyakkei
Yeah I'm forced to agree with a friend who watched last night: my main takeaway from #AwajimaHyakkei episode 1 is that the world deserves a prestige adaptation of A Kiss And A White Lily For My Dearest Girl lol
It's.....REALLY interesting watching this thing with Marimite very fresh in my memory, lol - and sadly not super flattering to #AwajimaHyakkei
So there's Class-S (admiring) and Class-S (derogatory) and just in terms of how it feels in my chest I think this show might be verging on the latter lol.
