I spent a decade covering sports and I have thoughts about the latest fallout in the Dianna Russini / Mike Vrabel scandal. Would love to hear yours. youtu.be/1pZ-FgU207E?...
My main take on the Dianna Russini bit is that I have reason to believe that she's been concealing a Carmela Soprano-grade North Jersey accent for years for her job and I hope she can now go back to talking that way for a while. defector.com/local-sports...
Dianna Russini is out at The Athletic amid investigation into her relationship with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel.
In ehr resignation letter, she doesn't address the relationship rumors but does say "I stand behind every story I have ever published.”

as a woman in a field w/ high ethical standards:
what happened to dianna russini is what should happen- she put herself in a compromising position which led to an investigation by her employer; mike vrabel has a diff job w/ diff standards
it’s not a double standard to hold women accountable ffs
Dianna Russini's gonna join Outkick and do a podcast for insane people with Jason Whitlock
Dianna Russini has been held to a higher standard than the President of the United States.
Last half of Dianna Russini’s statement followed by an article saying its business as usual for Mike Vrabel.
Dianna Russini having to take the responsibility for the whole affair while it’s business as usual for the Mike Vrabel. typical. gross.
So Dianna Russini is resigning, but crickets about Mike Vrabel? 🤔
Reserving judgment about Dianna Russini - we don’t have the facts.
But there’s no way this unfolds with the same speed and vitriol if it was a male journalist and female coach.

So either a) Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel did nothing wrong, but she's been hounded into quitting her job and he's an asshole for trying to duck the heat; or b) they were having an affair and are therefore both assholes for cheating on their spouses.
Is that right? Am I missing something?

I guess, although I’m a football fan, I can’t get too upset over the Dianna Russini stuff hitting the internet. If there was an affair so what, consenting adults & all that…definitely not worth losing a career over IMO…

this is by no means a defense of Dianna Russini but ethics in sports reporting have been eroding for years and there are more than a few things that are generally commonly accepted practices that shouldn’t be
The Dianna Russini controversy is all the more funny for me because I still remember a reporter rushing to Victory Lane when Will Power won the Indy 500 to give him a big hug and kiss.
Objectivity in general in racing circles is even more laughable than it is in the larger sports world.
