A photo of the protesters at the gathering today. One gentleman is holding and waving a Canadian flag on a hockey stick. Other protest signs read: Forever Canadian, a red stylized Maple leaf formed from the red V in the word Forever; Let Librarians Do Their Job Don't Ban Books; an Alberta Is Not For Sale lawn sign; Listen Up UCP No APP! No ASPS! No To Separation No Private Healthcare No Means NO!; a banner that reads: No To Separation! Canada Forever.
In this Photo a gentleman is wearing a red shirt and holding a red sign in the shape of a hockey jersey with a white maple leaf and Never 51 in black lettering; a closer picture of the banner reading No To Separation Canada Forever and under that in smaller lettering it reads: Protest Rally Oppose Unit Demonstrate which as an acronym reads PROUD; another Protester with a sign reading: Resign and they are holding an umbrella in Canadian flag colours with a red maple leaf.
Photo of the last few protester and a memorial to one of the protester's son, who was sadly lost, due to a failure in our mental health care system. This was a direct result of funding cuts made by the Smith Government and the Forced Intervention Act. The sign reads: Bill 53 Forced Intervention, Unproven, Death Sentence. Other signs people are holding say: Forever Canadian; Forced Care is Not Compassionate; Stronger Together; Un Compassionate Party with a picture of Danielle Smith after the word "Un"; Bill 53 Won't Work then it lists alternatives that will work, but the words are blurred in my photo and I can't quite make out what it actually says; a sign reading Public Inquiry Now and a gentleman holding a pole with a Canadian Flag attached above the Alberta provincial flag.
Fifteen showed up to our protest today. I think it's been twenty four weeks since #AwareMH started up the protests. My wife and I joined in a few weeks after that. It's having an effect based on the positive responses we're getting.
