Now as other countries examine their wood pellet supply chains, the facts stay clear – there is no sustainable way to source biomass for export from forests in B.C. and it is NOT a real climate solution. #BCForests

2 new commercial thinning sales in the Prince George area!
A direct impact of our BCTS review. We are increasing sales, year by year, but we are doing so in a more sustainable way.
More local jobs. fibre for local mills, and improving forest health.

The BCTS review came out over a year ago. Since then:
30% sales increase year-year & 50% increase in the North
Steady progress is being made, while the recommendations of the review are being implemented to make BCTS work for people in the forest sector.

The working forest model will have a transformative effect on the sector.
We’re with the BC Council of Forest Industries walking through the vision together.
We’re bringing everyone along this path, because it is their work that will get us there.

I recently met with our BC Value-Added Wood Coalition.
Our value-added wood manufacturers are key to building economic hubs.
This means, in a working forest, they are crucial to connecting the market with the on-the-ground work.

I had the privilege of appointing Russ Taylor to the FII Board. Last week I met with Russ to discuss some of the critical challenges in our provincial forest product market.
I am looking forward to working closely with Russ in the near future.

🌲 Forestry is a cornerstone of BC’s economy and identity, supporting ~100,000 jobs and contributing $17B+ to GDP.
As climate change puts forests under pressure, genomics is helping strengthen resilience and protect BC’s trees for generations.

Joined by faculty from UBC and BCIT, we hosted a forestry roundtable.
A real discussion involving academic perspectives, but grounded in the reality of our forests.
Because the truth is, forests and forest health impacts us all.

We are reducing raw log exports and opening more doors for innovation and value-added producers.
We are on a path forward that conserves our old forests and biodiversity while supporting good jobs, new opportunities, and healthy communities.

Corporate interests have guided this industry for too long. Nobody—from environmentalists to forestry companies—is happy with what’s happening with British Columbia’s forests. There is a cost to this conflict.

Forestry relies on the businesses investing in this work.
At the Western Forestry Contractors Conference, we’re sitting alongside the people on the ground, investing in wildfire risk reduction, forest health, and rehabilitation.

Forestry is a two-sided coin - Crown land and private land.
Mosaic drives the private land file, making this an important face-to-face opportunity for this government.
Every piece of forestry must be driven by honest conversation, alignment and collaboration.

At the Truck Loggers Convention, we spoke of a forestry transformation.
To some, that may sound like just words. Forestry is undergoing a transition, and we’re going to ensure it emerges as a sector working for people.

Chief Lampreau and the Simpcw First Nation are just one of many First Nations leading forestry in their community and surrounding region.
I’ve worked closely with them, to support their work in pushing the sector further.

Mayor Brienen from the District of Houston has been a real partner to our work in advancing forestry.
Working across government, alongside First Nations, and with industry, is how we build a forestry future. The District of Houston is a leading example.

Today is the day the operators, contractors, loggers, and truckers of BC gather in Vancouver.

At the end of 2025, BCTS had sold 25% more volume than they did in 2024.
There is certainly more work to do, but this is positive progress. Through BCTS, we’re utilizing more of our apportioned timber, to get local logs to local mills.
