Y’day a.m saw the arrival of a few more Willow W’ler, Blackcap & Chiffchaff @ #BCPBirding & a big jump in numbers of very mobile Redpoll busy feeding b4 they move on. Good numbers of Linnets sing on the usual nesting ground. No joy with Wheatear in an area that used to be a dead cert! #UKBirding

Y'day a.m 4 the 3rd day run'g started with thick fog @ #BCPBirding with mixed fauna as per photos so stayed in woodland on edge of Nevison's flash to begin with usual songsters Inc 1 Blackcap, 8 Chiffchaff (24 in total)1 Willow Warbler & 1 near New Water later the latter the 1st this year #UKBirding

Y'day saw a chopper approach a murmuration of Starling on what appeared to be the same flight path, expecting it to change paths it carried on. The optical illusion created appears to slow the chopper down & drop in altitude as the Starlings rise. Quite intriguing to watch! #BCPBirding #UKBirding
2000+Starling roosted @ Bickershaw CP today & 400+ Jackdaws also 1 Great White Egret flew over South to roost @ Pennington Flash otherwise quiet. Not mid Feb but firebugs have been busy already with an area of reed charred. #UkBirding #BCPBirding #Patchbirding

2 ringed birds 4FZL & 4FZN present on Nevison's Flash BCP South were ringed as cygnets on Diggle Flash BCP North on 25/09/1924 as part of a brood of 7!! Info thanks to Steve Christmas. The 3rd unringed #UKBirding

Over half of December been & gone @ #BCPBirding & a lot quieter! Good numbers of Redwing remain with plenty berries still on offer. Starling roost attracted a Sparrowhawk this week. The 8th Dec 1 G Partridge once a daily sight was only my second record this year!! #UKBirding #Patchbirding

This week @ #BCPBirding a Woodcock was my first of this winter a day after the J.Snipe. Redwing continue to be prominent especially @ roost. Starling Murmurations continue attracting a Peregrine again today. Redpoll & Siskin numbers have now dropped. 1 Ad Com Gull (wrongly named!) today #UKBirding

Tuesday evening there were 2 Murmurations @ #BCPBirding, first up the usual Starlings B4 roosting in reedbed @16.10 then it was the Jackdaws turn which I have not witnessed @BCP B4 roosting as they usually roost @ Pennington Flash! Redwing heard going to roost in vid! #UkBirding #Patchbirding

Another cold morning 3⁰C @ #BCPBirding with rising dew slow to clear! 1 Green Sandpiper, 2 C Snipe, a few Siskin & M. Pipit hanging around the highlight. 75+ Canada Geese were noisy as were 5 W Rail. A Hare was munching on vegetation & a large spider web stood out in the sun. #UKBirding

Late post for Fri 12th @ #BCPBirding highlights were Marsh Harrier, Little & GWE, another GSW posing. KAn extremely loud rattle alarm call reminiscent of an old wooden football rattle by an upset Mistle Thrush caught my attention. Maybe he/she was getting ready for the weekend matches. #UKBirding
