20.3.1890: Otto von Bismarck aus Amt des Kanzler des Deutschen Reichs entlassen. Bismarck hatte am 18.3.1890 bei Kaiser Wilhelm II sein Rücktrittsgesuch eingereicht. Diesem Schritt waren zahlreiche Auseinandersetzungen und Kompetenzstreitigkeiten zwischen Bismarck und dem Monarchen vorausgegangen. Bismarck hielt den seit 1888 herrschenden Regenten für ungeeignet und unreif. Wilhelm II war zu der Einsicht gelangt, dass Bismarck jedes Mittel, Gewalt bis hin zum Staatsstreich recht war, um seine Kanzlerschaft zu retten.
