Had to take the macro finally out and look at these beauties! Left to right a sulphur butterfly, Split banded owlet butterfly, Red bordered Pixie and a Tiger longwing butterfly.

P.S. Now I wonder about the 105mm because of the vibration control.

An Eastern Tiger Swallowtail on Western Daisies today in the garden. I've seen several fly by in the past few weeks, but he's the first to stay long enough for pictures. #gardening #nativeplants 🌱 #butterflies #lepidoptera

I'm glad this mourning cloak posed so well for me, kind of annoying though that it chose to pose on some dung. Still, looking beautiful. Albany County, New York, April 2026

Loki hairstreak (Callophrys loki). Riverside County, CA. March 2026.

This butterfly is only found in a few counties in Southern California and in northern Baja. It uses juniper as a host plant. Really excited to find one!

From early birds to emerging butterflies: UK shows signs of earliest spring on record Bluebells are flowering, swallows are returning and orange-tip butterflies are flying in what could become Britain’s earliest recorded spring. Records for early spring occurrences are being smashed as 2026 looks to be the earliest this century for frogspawn laying, blackbirds nesting, brimstone butterflies emerging and hazel flowering, according to Nature’s Calendar, which has logged citizen science records of seasonal change since 2000. This spring has had the earliest egg-laying in an 80-year study of great tits in Wytham Woods, Oxfordshire, with the 23 March sighting beating the previous record by three days. The birds’ average egg-laying has moved forward by 16 days since the 1960s, with these tits and other species needing to ensure their chicks are fed on caterpillars emerging with the new spring leaves. Dunsford Woods, in Devon, has logged its earliest tit egg – in the nest of a coal tit – since records began in 1955. Record-breaking early tit egg-laying has been seen in the Netherlands as well, reflecting dramatic climatic shifts across northern Europe. While some scientific studies have highlighted the risk of “phenological mismatch”, whereby one species synchronised to another cannot keep pace with the climate-induced changes of others, the earlier-laying tits offer hope...

Shadvin, a blue and orange red panda, and Tristain, a grey and rainbow colored snow leopard butterfly, are in a magical forest clearing surrounded by butterflies and little red pandas. Tristain is sitting on Shadvin’s lap and is holding a pointer finger up for a butterfly to perch onto it. Their tails are draped over each other and the two are smiling and relaxed.

Just finished this gorgeous piece recently for the always wonderful FurryJames and his partner Shadvin on discord! Enjoy :3c
