A bit of #gardengold this morning - a Green Woodpecker calling from one of the big gardens to the south, an unexpected addition to the garden #lockdownlisting #BWKM0 total, now 49. A nice way to finish a chilly ride down the cycle path and back...

Sand Martin chattering over the garden this afternoon was no. 48 for #lockdownlisting #BWKM0 - 50 is in touching distance... Overall total for Newark up to 70 (local daily exercise plus nocmig). Two Groppers reeling last night on the badlands a recent highlight.

Had to actually leave the house for work today, for the first time in 2 weeks, which coincided with @malarkey_tom having an Osprey go east over Newark - gutting! Still, the first Swallow of the year is always a nice moment #lockdownlisting #BWKM0

The skies over Newark remain an Osprey-free zone but a Red Kite west at midday was an overdue garden tick! This, plus Rook and singing Blackcap (and a Chiffchaff yesterday) bring my garden #lockdownlisting #BWKM0 total to 44...

So,

a) early night and up for dawn in the #BWKM0 challenge,

b) out in the garden for a protracted #nocmig unplugged session, or

c) early night and a lie-in?

Took a quick stroll literally 10m from front door while the Pot Noodle microwaved and literally first bird I put the bins on. Stonking #BWKM0 tick.

Back at work after a week off; the view from the office window allowed one more species to be added to my home #lockdownlisting #BWKM0 total, with 2 Cormorants over Newark town centre - total now at 38. Looking forward to some migrants... maybe?!

About 150-200 noisy Gulls flew past the window in one flock going North, 99% Common Gulls. More than I’ve seen here in total in nearly two years. #migration #BWKM0

Best part of 7 hours #BWKM0 #lockdownlisting in the garden in Newark, with a few distractions, racked up a modest 25sp. Lots of Buzzard action overhead, plus Sprawk, Grey Heron, Mallard. We’ll see what the rest of the week brings...

Apparently joining in with #BWKM0 is not a good enough reason to delay putting the washing out.

The Jay found the Tawny Owl and resorted to a lot of name calling but glad to say the Owl was still there after the argument finished. @SIBirdClub #BWKM0

@SIBirdClub #BWKM0 Jay becoming more frequent in March after near total lack since early January. They like to wind up the Tawny Owls, fairly quiet but you can hear the mimicry.

@SIBirdClub #BWKM0 Trust me, it’s a bit of Tawny Owl. Owl 🦉 The only way I’m getting better shots 📷 is wading through the undergrowth, and I’m not wearing socks 🧦 so that ain’t happening.

@SIBirdClub #BWKM0 A good start this morning; A Mistle Thrush and 10 Fieldfare ➡️ East, the latter being the first since early January, totally absent this winter. Little Egret coming in over neighbours house, unfortunately wanted to land where I was standing. I’ll move 😽
