On #ThisDayInHistory in 1805, #LordNelson and his 27 British ships defeated a combined French/Spanish fleet of 33 ships in the #BattleOfTrafalgar. He cleverly scattered the enemy, allowing his better-trained seamen to win with just 1/9th the deaths experienced on the other side.

Rosia Bay #Gibraltar deep water anchorage was where the stricken #HMSVictory was towed after the #BattleofTrafalgar - Vice-Admiral Nelson’s body, encased in a barrel of alcohol, was conveyed through this archway. There is nothing on the site to mark this historic event.
