Detail of tapestry showing horse riders moving from left to right. On the right, a man holding a hawk on his left wrist. He's wearing a light blue cloak, and his horse is also covered in blue. In the centre a man with a green costume, with some red round his chest also has a hawk on his left wrist, and his horse is a golden colour. On the left, and silver coloured man and horse, part of which is out of shot on the photo. On the top border a couple of mythical looking birds, and on the bottom border just left of centre two men appear to be fighting, while the centre and right of the border have other mythical beasts.

Having sailed the sea, Harold meets Guy, who brought Harold to William Duke of the Normans. Note the splendid hawks both men carry.

A complete image of the sailing ship from the right of the previous post. It has an anchor at the front, a coloured sail half unfurled, and a row of men along its side, some with oars. There's a blue shield hanging at the stern.

On the left people are coming out of a building, carrying dogs and a hawk onto a rowing boat. At the right hand side, a partial view of a sailing ship loaded with people. Along the bottom, a number of mythical animals and ornamentations.

After the feast, dogs and hawks were loaded onto the boats…

Left and centre there are three arches with a group of people eating and drinking set on a level above the arches. There's a roof over them. To the right a man is coming down some stairs. There are small mythical animals along the top and bottom.

Harold and a companion enter the church at Bosham to pray for a safe voyage, then a feast is held in one of Harold's manor houses.

Wow! Where exactly does one find l'Arc de Triomphe in #London. Google maps won't tell me. I'm looking for something to do at the weekend. Is this like the opening act for the #BayeauxTapestry?

French President Emmanuel Macron speaking at a podium, in the British Museum. There are EU, UK and French flags behind him. There are a lot of bald spots visible in the seats in front of him

Having seen the current #BayeauxTapestry exhibition last year it's exciting to imagine how more modern interpretation will tell this captivating story!
