The photo is a color monochrome, with a grey background and olive-greenish shadows. It was taken looking down at the surface of a pond from the bank. The reflections are of two willow trees, meaning there are two thick trunks and a lot of streaming branches. Because the water is moving slightly, the whole image is distorted, looking very much like a painting. This was in Shanghai. The turtle in question was a Florida soft-shell turtle, which is obviously not a native species - so this one was probably a pet kept until it was too big. When the old men sell soup-turtles by the side of the road, they hang them on a stick - usually tied around the body, but in this case from a hole drilled in the soft shell itself. The turtles are usually near dead from dehydration. So, I acquired this turtle, whacked the man with the stick he'd hung the turtle from, and found a turtle-lover with a pond where the turtle could spend what time it has left. FWIW, once re-hydrated, Florida soft-shell turtles are very fast and bitey assholes. I don't regret it, though.
Another quiet #stunday today. Reflection of willows on troubled water - troubled because I had just released a large turtle, rescued from becoming soup, into this pond. Story in the ALT.
