Today I had the delight of showing my husband a Green Tiger beetle. He'd never seen one before. This little dude posed for me a little before I let him go on his way.

After previous unsuccessful attempts at getting Dorcus titanus to mate (they are super aggressive), it seems that using an empty box and keeping a close eye on the well fed adults for an hour is proving a useful strategy.

The Sun Beetles (Pachnoda marginata peregrina) are starting to emerge.
Did you know that as they metamorphose, they shed their larval body including the head leaving it like a mask. Fascinating stuff.

The Rose Chafers (Cetonia aurata) are doing well. Two eclosed this week and now I have 3 males. I have three more pupal cells and hopefully some will be female.
