I love #aviationhistory, & anything having to do with #flying back in the day. Jets are cool, but I don't know. There's a lot more love & respect for open cockpit flying. I mean, damn. Back in the day was scary ...

💡 Bessie Coleman was born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1892 .
💡 Due to discrimination in the United States, however, she went to France to attend an aviation school to become a pilot.
Denied flight training in the U.S., Coleman learned French and traveled to France to earn her license.
Her life was cut short in a plane accident in 1926 but her vision never crashed.
When doors are closed, pioneers build wings. Courage lifts history higher. INerasable.

#BessieColeman and #AmeliaEarhart were both aviators, but Coleman was the first African American woman to earn a pilot's license.

On the 3rd day of #WomensHistoryMonth, I salute #BessieColeman.
When I 1st learned about Coleman, the 1st black American female aviator, a decade ago, I thought "surely someone will make a biopic about this woman's life." I'm still waiting.
I think Amandla Stenberg would be superb in her role.
