I'm calling today as a parent/caregiver of a child(ren) in Ontario
Public Schools, to voice my opposition to Bill 33.
I do not support pushing policing in schools when all evidence shows that the answer to violence in schools is more school staff and supports, not policing.
I oppose Bill 33 weakening school boards and allowing the Minister to remove democratically elected trustees without cause.
I oppose Bill 33 giving the Minister power to sell off school property at will with no requirement for the funds to go back to the school boards.
I'm calling on you to provide full and adequate funding for our schools so our children have the support they need and staff have the resources to provide that care and support.
WHAT IS BILL 33?
Removes Local Control from Local School Boards
Bill 33 would enable the Ministry of Education to remove local control and public voice from school boards and their elected trustees without a non-partisan, third-party investigation, based only on their opinion. This would remove all local control and transparency from policy, program, and budget decision-making.

Bill 33 would mandate Policing in Schools instead of investing in Real Student Supports.
Province-wide, Special Education is underfunded by more than $580 million. Data from across North America shows that students with disabilities have significant negative impacts from school officer programs, and the 'safety' supports that are needed are social workers, child & youth workers, education support workers, and other professionals.
