@ascentale #bikenitepq New brand to me. Maybe worth a discussion some #bikenite ?
looking at a 300km bike ride to accustom my brain to 15+ hours of pedalling, before Chase The Sun in June (another 300km event).
The nearest permanent audax route starts from Poole, 30 mins away by train. I can either train to Poole and start at 2330, first five hours in the dark, or I can […]
Are there any #musicians here who get to gigs via bike? What do you play? Do you carry your instrument with you? And perhaps most challenging - how do you keep your instrument safe if you go out with your band mates/friends after the show?
I'm thinking of getting back in to playing, but as […]
@ascentale #BikeNitePQ please could you share images of
- women cycling, late 19th century, early 20th century, when women cycling was A Big Deal*, including but not limited to advertisements and patronising satirical cartoons
- press cuttings about women cycling
- contemporary stuff showing […]
So is there an equivalent of rally racing for bicycles?
What is rally Start here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rallying#

Hypothetically, were I employed, could I book my time getting a bike fit to "medical time off - physio?" 😃
(this is not a #BikeNitePQ 😃)

@ascentale seeing this post from a BlueSky user made me wonder about other homemade food or drink recipes for cycling. Question for bikenite: what are your favorites?

@harold @corin_ja #bikenitepq @ascentale Fenders are tricky to install correctly, but once fitted, should require no further adjustment unless it hitts something or gets caught on your foot or leg. What make and model have you tried? I've figured out how to adjust mine, but can anyone suggest […]
@ascentale #BikeNitePQ not awake, so needs word smithing: in the fun category, do you have a fun personality in your area that cycles? Or does bike advocacy?
Possible #BikeNitePQ for next week: Fellow #BikeTooter and bike commuters - what are we doing for styling our hair when we need to look good but are getting there by bike? Has anyone found styling product that holds up okay under a helmet? Any quick styling tips for throwing something together […]
@ascentale: Late for today, but this might be a #BikeNitePQ:
What's a "cyclist" from your point of view?

Bicycle trailer with eurocrates stacked up 3 deep, 4 high
#bikenitepq
I am jealous of eurocrate standardization. Are there any US bicycle trailers (feel free to chime in for your non-EU country) that are similarly sized or advertised as holding standard crates? In particular, I want solid-sided crates like these which keep dust out.

Has anyone built a frankenbike? Let's see your photos!
My contribution was my son's idea - he wanted drop bars on his (my old) MTB & ended up with a Monster Cross / Gravel bike.
I'd already swapped the pogo fork (foam sponge as the […]

@ascentale #BikeNitePQ Hi Phil, please can people recommend their favourite "yoga for cyclists" instructor-led routines? I am stuck with Yoga With Adriene for Cyclists on youtube and I need some variety! Thanks. (Will also consider pilates 🏴☠️)
A question for bike riders of all sorts: What do you do off the bike to help yourself keep riding?
For me I run and continue to enjoy riding.

How have tariffs changed your biking or bike maintenance, if anything has changed for you.

@ascentale
A question for the #biketooter women which I know is going to be *very* subjective.
My wife doesn't like cycling because she finds saddles *very* uncomfortable (partly due to a broken coccyx as a child). I'd love to go on rides together, so looking for recommendations.
Are there […]
#bikeNitePQ
How low can your panniers, bags, accessories hang down the side of your bicycle? Absolute lowest is clearly restricted by how far you can lean over without pedal strike and clearing curbs when you stop at a red light, but what else am I not considering? Context: looking for bags […]
#bikenitepq I’m suggesting this as a potential question for #bikenite, which takes on Fridays, asynchronously. Answers will surely depend on where you are etc. https://hachyderm.io/@thelonelyghost/115144051837968899
So... a 20-mile ride is commonly called a 20 miler, right? What do you call a 20 km ride? A 20 killer? 😅
#BikeTooter #BikeNitePQ
Hey Phil @ascentale Yesterday @MartyCormack posted about a nice ride that ended with a mosquito invasion, even though he was prepared. Got any stories of a “good bike trips gone bad” even though you thought you were ready? Or lessons learned from when you were not? #bikenitepq
#BikeNitePQ, 2/2: I already have plenty of patches, I really just want a tube of rubber solvent. Does anyone sell just that?
[1] My dried-out tube of solvent came from a patch kit my grandfather gave me. In 1972. I shouldn't have been surprised, there are lots of things from 1972 that are dried […]
#BikeNitePQ: I had a flat last week, maybe my second in 15 years. Happily, I carry a couple of patch kits. Sadly, the solvent had dried out in the one[1], and the self-adhesive patches in the other[2] no longer self-adhered. Went to a couple of LBSes to get just a tube of butyl rubber solvent […]
#bikenitepq @ascentale question: when a bike shop is closed, what do you do? What random ideas do you think could make getting a repair easier?
For example, you can park your car at a repair shop and drop your keys into a lock box. Has anyone ever seen the same sort of thing for a bike shop […]
Kinda like a follow-up question, but as a candidate question for next week's #bikenitepq, how do you utilize a cycle cap? Do you wear it under your helmet to keep your hair dry from the rain? If you wear it alone, why not a regular baseball cap instead?
RE […]
@ascentale
The Air Quality #BikeNitePQ arose because $SPOUSE was watching video.canadiancivil.com/w/u6cUyzptCvzdB3Kh8UXEdd at elevated levels of volume. I think she may have been hinting something at me.
@ascentale
Hi Phil: Another #BikeNitePQ:
Forest fires across the world have blown smoke to places hundreds of (miles|kilometres) from the fires. Air quality has gone down, some days to dangerous levels. Have you adjusted your biking because of low air quality? Changed your route? Worn an N95 […]
Someone posted (now gone):
> do you notice a difference in speed when using bikes with 700c wheels vs bikes with smaller wheels?
My previous bike had 29 inch wheels, but my current bike has 700c wheels and it feels faster. Maybe because it has better gearing.
I had to look it up […]
@mayintoronto
> Does anyone else struggle with walking after you get off a bike? I feel like a drunken toddler.
Yup, after going too fast, too far. I think it's just total fatigue of the biking muscles. It means I'm probably dehydrated too.
This would be a good question for BikeNite. Hey […]
Does anyone make loose MTB style jerseys with pockets? They all seem to be pocket less but I don't like stuff in my MTB short pockets
