Researchers @anthropocenebio.bsky.social @york.ac.uk have contributed to the largest biodiversity time-series database on the planet, include data from over half a million locations worldwide π
#BioTIME 2.0 includes nearly 12 million records and is available open access via biotime.st-andrews.ac.uk
The #BioTIME 2.0 database offers unprecedented insight into how #biodiversity is changing through time across the globe, spanning nearly 150 years of #ecological records from 1874 β 2023 π

Super interesting papers are about to come out now --> BioTIME 2.0 is published- Huge database on temporal biodiversity change
Amazing work by Dornelas, her team, and authors willing to share their fieldwork data

Good study on biodiversity change quantifying local diversity loss and lack of biotic homogenization. I wonder how the #BioTIME group is going to respond ... they'll probably just dig in their heels and insist their deeply flawed time-series data are better.
π’New paper!! π’using #BioTIME #timeseries we showed that faster rates of #turnover in community composition were associated with faster rates of #temperature #change across biomes, for both cooling & warming + microclimate availability & human impacts modulate these responses

Gaume & Desquilbet show the #InsectChange database is riddled with errors, as are its parent databases (e.g., #BioTime). Errors include misinterpretation of data from original studies, incorrect data entries, duplicate entries, incorrect units, incorrect organismal groups & more.
