Station Papa, about 1200km downwind from the Copper River dust plume, has a number of instruments to monitor biological activity year round, so it would a be a nice exercise to explore monitor its data in the context of these dust events.

Based on observations, Siqi Wu et al. found that #LitterMassLoss was decreased by 4.5%, and #C and #N release were significantly reduced by 6.7% and 3.4%, respectively, under #ElevatedCO2 in #TerrestrialEcosystems, which meant that may lead to negative #BiogeochemicalCycles.

#fires in southern Chile yesterday bring abundant smoke over the SE Pacific, an area that tends to be depleted of nutrients at this time of the year, a deficiency that it is often compensated by nutrients contained in the deposited smoke.
