First visit in a while to the local patch of Arroyo de las Zorreras in Riogordo. First Nightingales, Woodchat Shrike, Swift and Red Rumped Swallow of the year have arrived to join the House Martins and Swallows.

A fine morning at the Desembocadura del Guadalhorce yesterday. First Woodchat Shrike of the year and good numbers of waders. Nice to see the Black Necked Grebes in summer plumage and loads of Shovelers doing their whirling courtship display.

So when was someone going to tell me Rollers are an absolute unit of a bird. I was expecting something Blackbird sized not Jackdaw size. Squint really hard and thats a Western Bonelli's Warbler. Also saw Spectacled Warbler also notoriously skulky.
