Fun fact: Vaux’s swifts are commonly found in the Pacific Northwest, especially near old forests where they nest in hollow trees, or chimneys in more urban areas.

Their grip is powerful enough to grab slippery fish, carry heavy prey, and hold tight while flying. This incredible strength makes these raptors highly skilled and efficient hunters. 🌲

A small, round bird with striking black and white plumage perches on a thin, light-colored feeder. Its head and chest are a deep, velvety black, contrasting sharply with pinkish white beak. The bird's back and tail are a soft gray. It faces slightly downward, and its tiny, dark eyes are visible. The background is softly blurred, showing muted greens and browns, suggesting a natural outdoor setting. The bird's delicate feet grip the feeder firmly.

Sharp little Dark-eyed Junco visited today. This bird is common across much of temperate North America and in summer ranges far into the Arctic. Common all year along the West Coast. Sometimes called “Snow birds” They live between three and 11 years. #Birds #BirdsBlueSky #Nature.

In the bad books today! Kiwi death stared me for 20 minutes, because I didn't let her eat garlic, or go into the cutlery draw 😅🤣 #birdsbluesky #kakariki
