Black Crag South from Skelwith Bridge through bright bluebell wood, up gently, at first, then slightly steeper. Up, up some more, then on high fell I’m stood, behold the southern fells every feature amicably gathered within our view. Tarns and lakes, the barn under the rough peak, sun lit majestic parade, a cool wind blew. This fine scene, shows higher fells’ deceit. Reluctant, we start down. A raven squawks. Stile after stile, bounding mile after mile, great path down through some uplifting moments. With great company and interesting talks, passes the day with light step and a smile, we’ll soon be at the bar for refreshments. @BardPharts 17 August 2025
Winter Walk: Tarn Hows & Black Crag Fell ⛰️
A recent walk around Tarn Hows was stunning! The path up to Black Crag Fell (323m) is worth it, or take the gentler, #wheelchairaccessible circular route around the tarn for amazing views.🙌 #tarnhows #lakedistrict #blackcrag
Pillar, with a big cloud threatening to engulf it, and Steeple far right, with Black Crag separating them. Taken from near High Gillerthwaite Youth Hostel in Ennerdale.
