Once someone has developed anti-D antibodies, future transfusions become more complicated. RhD-negative patients must then receive RhD-negative blood only. In pregnancy, these antibodies can also attack a baby’s red blood cells, causing Haemolytic Disease Of the Newborn, HDFN.
