To the left of it are the bright dot of planet Jupiter, and bright star Aldebaran and the Hyades star cluster below it. To the right of it is star cluster Pleiades. ISS crossed the sky between them. The sky was very transparant all night.

The image shows a starry sky with a small streak left of centre. This is the BlueWalker3 satellite. To the left of it is star Capella in constellation Auriga. BlueWalker3 is an experimental communication satellite. It is essentially a 65 square meter flat phase array antenna, oriented towards Earth. The upper side of the antenna is covered with solar cells and an instrument box. From Earth you are looking at the antenna face which is not very bright. As a consequence of this the apparent brightness of BlueWalker3 can vary considerably, strongly depending on the sun angle.

The image shows a blavk sky, with planet Jupiter as a bright dot at lower left. To the upper left of Jupiter four tiny dots are visible. These are the big Galilean moons of the planet. At upper right a few background stars are visible. I like to add stars in these kind of pictures. When looking at the planets of our solar system we are always looking beyond our system too, into deep space.

The image shows a starry sky, darker at right than at left, because of stray light of the three-quarter Moon. The Moon's light made it difficult to catch satelliet BlueWalker3, which shows up as a faint streak above the centre of the image. BlueWalker3 is notorious for its diffcult to predict brightness. I hadn't seen this satellite since 26 August 2024. Image taken at 20:45 CET on 10 March 2025.

Den Satellit #Bluewalker3 konnte ich am etwas trüben Himmel mit freiem Auge und meinem 8x42 Fernglas sehen.

Früher lag ich als Bub im Sommer vor dem Zelt und war begeistert wenn mal ein Satellit zu sehen war. Nun hatte ich meine 1. Sichtung von BW3, und mit ihm 2 Starlink im Gesichtsfeld!
