Ruddy Duck (I think) after grabbing a between dives drink from Bond Lake in Cary, North Carolina. The lake is reflecting the green of the grass bank behind the duck. Concentric ripples surround the duck, and water falls from its bill in two streams. The duck is mostly dark brown and white, the bill is black, they is black. The duck's reflection is visible in the water below it, albeit distorted by the ripples. The duck is in profile to the camera - the visible eye appears to be making eye contact with the photographer.

A Wood Duck channels the distant genetic memory of his fierce ancestors as he prepares to charge the Mallard Drake trying to horn in on his cross-species romance with a Mallard Hen. The wood duck is moving from left to right across the frame. The scene is a forest floor covered with dead leaves and fallen pine needs. the shot is tight on the wood duck: it is moving forward , aggressively postured with its head lowered, and bill open. The picture catches it mid-stride, with the leg closest to camera up against its body, as it stalks towards it larger rival, preparing to attack. Photo taken in Bond Park in Cary, North Carolina.

Mallard Hen and her male Wood Duck beau strolling through the woods, Bond Park, Cary, North Carolina. The female Mallard is in the foreground, in profile, neck straight up, head forward coming from the left side of the frame, looking at the right side of the frame . The smaller, more colorful male wood duck is behind her, but a little forward of her, showing his face, eye and a small bit of his body framed by her neck and bill. He appears to be talking. He's out of focus, but big details are still discernible. There are two tree trunks in the background, extremely out of focus.
