A rather fabulous tree stump in Padmall Wood featuring Cyprus-leaved Plait-moss, Hypnum cupressiforme, and Cladonia polydactyla (which I note is given the quirky name "Many-fingered Powderhorn" in the new Lichens of Britain and Ireland field guide).

Three reasons to love Common Tamarisk-moss, Thuidium tamariscinum:

1. It's gorgeous โœ”๏ธ
2. It's got a great name โœ”๏ธ
3. It's easy to identify โœ”๏ธโœ”๏ธโœ”๏ธ

I was delighted to see lots of it in woodland at the Devil's Punchbowl at the weekend.

At the top two photos of ginger coloured mosses on old woodwork. Below a more general view of trellis work at a garden centre with labels for Lupins and Nerine.

At a garden centre on old weathered trellis work mostly between the Lupins & Nerine some very ginger mosses.
Not good at them but at least I'm better that the phone app that suggested Sunburst Lichen or Sweet chestnut ๐Ÿ™„

A nice bryoparasitic fungus for #FungiFriday. I think it could be Octospora rutilans, growing on Juniper Haircap moss, Polytrichum juniperinum. Seen at RSPB Snettisham.

One of the special Liverworts at Eridge Rocks - Greater Whipwort, Bazzantia trilobata. Considering the amount of rain we've had recently, it was actually quite dessicated.
