Ash bolted out of bed when a knock echoed through the apartment. The rapid tap tap tap repeated before he could sprint to check the door. Tenya wasn’t due back, and even if she was, she could let herself in with their lunch in tow. His neighbors rarely, if ever, came to his apartment door, and all of them would likely be at work, regardless. He approached the door with wary caution, keeping his footsteps light across the hardwood floor. The visitor shuffled their feet in the hallway outside, shoes squeaking against the floor. Ash leaned in to peer through the peephole, blinking when he only met darkness instead of the warped image of the hall. His shoulders tensed. He checked that his gun sat on his dining table with a furtive glance. This is weird.
Another monday, another chapter! 32 is up, and with it a new fresh wave of questions!
