The sky is quite cloudy though with light patches breaking through which is reflecting off the water. In the background, from bottom left to slight right of centre, sits Brean Down and right at the tip of the peninsula is the old Fort. Just the right is a ship in the Bristol Channel, which we can barely make out.

Monochrome watercolour depicting the tumbled stone ramparts of Dolebury Hillfort. These reach a particularly impressive height toward the right of frame. In the distance, flat farmland stretches off toward the Bristol Channel, where the long promontory of Brean Down is clearly visible. The island of Steep Holm can just be seen in the water beyond, and further still lie the hills of South Wales. The sky is mottled with light cloud.

An almost leafless tree that's grown mostly sideways because of the prevailing wind. There are many trees berries on the windward branch tips.
