A colour photograph taken from Kewstoke toll road looking across a section of Birnbeck Pier's boardwalk and on down the Bristol channel towards Devon. As I was taking this photograph I saw a man appear, top left of frame, up on the rocky outcrop and he was looking out to sea. So he became the focal point.

From the bottom left the flooded footpath snakes toward the - very small - cliff, near the top right of the image. In the centre of the picture is a large tree trunk of driftwood that, to my eye, resembles a kind of goat-headed serpent. On the horizon sits Steepholm Island in the Bristol Channel. Above this is a band of bright sky line that graduates into a darker band of cloud. The scene seems to have a passing resemblance to Permian times.
