Sporophytes on Riccia thallus
A new discovery for me - tiny stalk-less sporophytes on the thallus of a Riccia in a stubble field. I think it’s Riccia sorocarpa, with a deep groove in the thallus and colourless cells along the margin. #mosses #bryophyes #liverwort
Two little #mosses associated with bare chalky ground, Microbryum rectum and M. curvicollum from Swyncombe Downs, Oxfordshire. Other species included included Weissia longifolia and lots of tiny Seligeria calycina on shaded pebbles #bryophyes
