Strong Crown case but judge's doubt sees gun, drug charges dropped against Brantford man Evidence against a man targeted by a police warrant and acting suspiciously still left a judge with a reasonable doubt about his guilt.

Police were investigating a man suspected of fentanyl dealing but serious charges were dropped when a judge expressed reasonable doubt that it could have been one of 7 other people in the same house.

Judge: 'Brantford – the joint submission capital of the world' A Brantford judge scolded the local Crown's office recently for agreeing to a community sentence for a child abuser, but said she had little choice but to accept the joint submission for house arrest.

Interesting: joint submissions/plea deals are the oil that keeps the criminal justice system moving but this judge says too many are happening in Brantford. Once presented with a joint submission, the judge almost HAS to take it.
