ππ Yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella) β The yellowhammer is a colourful member of the bunting family, with a striking yellow head and underparts, streaked brown back, and white outer tail feathers. Adult males are more brightly coloured than the female. Found across Europe and parts of Asia, it prefers open habitats like farmland and grasslands. These birds forage on the ground for seeds and insects. They are resident breeders in many areas, but some populations migrate. Three subspecies are recognised.
