Saw this #woodchat #shrike a few weeks ago, while out for a run, but I did not stop as I had no #camera. Though it was a blackcap! I went for a walk a few days ago & while photographing #YellowHammers, this little critter popped up. Super rare in #Northumberland, only a handful ever seen!! #fujifilm

Last week I was excited to find circa 25 #Yellowhammers in a ‘rare’ uncut billowing hedge by a small patch of Phacelia seedheads 1/2 mile down the road from home Today I was thrilled to find 2 in a hedge just 200m from my house! Ever hopeful for that garden tick #NorfolkBirding #UKBirding

🌍🌏 Yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella) ♂ The yellowhammer is a colourful member of the bunting family, with a striking yellow head and underparts, streaked brown back, and white outer tail feathers. Adult males are more brightly coloured than the female. Found across Europe and parts of Asia, it prefers open habitats like farmland and grasslands. These birds forage on the ground for seeds and insects. They are resident breeders in many areas, but some populations migrate. Three subspecies are recognised. I went for a stroll from West Bexington towards Abbotsbury this afternoon & it was very quiet, apart from a #RedKite, some #Yellowhammers & more #Swifts than I've ever seen before - possibly 200! 😃 #UKBirding
