A large, ancient tree trunk is covered in vibrant green moss. The tree has a gnarled appearance with many thick branches extending outwards. Beyond it is another similar tree. All the trees are leafless.

A wonderful pair of ancient oaks on Craig yr Allt. Having witnessed so much over hundreds of years, perhaps they might say “this too shall pass “.

It's Christmas every day in the Welsh Political Archive office! Ephemera from the #Caerphilly #Caerffili @senedd.wales by election has started arriving. We're more excited about this than we should be!

Why did the polls get the Caerphilly by-election wrong? They ignored the fact Reform is an English nationalist party Plaid Cymru defeated Reform in Caerphilly, contrary to the findings of a poll. This discrepancy is due to inaccuracies in constituency polling and the influence of English identity on Reform. Pollsters should incorporate weighting for national identity to improve accuracy.
