The CETAF Collections group
The CETAF Collections group by Luc Willemse, coordinator of the Collections Group within CETAF. About the Collections Group The CETAF Collections group gathers collections managers, curators, technicians to heads of a department or directors connected across Europe throughout CETAF Member institutes. The group works to optimize the ways that natural history specimens are collected, preserved, analyzed, and documented. Natural history collections are at the heart of CETAF institutes. Collections are crucial for research, exhibitions, and education. The research-based on these collections plays a key role in understanding biodiversity (loss) or climate change for example, as also agriculture (food) or health issues. About pur organization CETAF stands for the Consortium of European Taxonomic Facilities: it represents and connects the major natural history and natural science museums; botanic gardens and research centers in Europe, with their associated biological collections and research expertise. Collectively, we represent a unique network made up of 70 research organizations across 22 countries, meaning over 5000 scientists working and collaborating to explore and document diversity in nature. Our objectives: To promote scientific research and access to European collections; To foster European cooperation and partnerships; To be a voice for taxonomy and systematic biology in Europe. Discover more about our activities and projects by visiting us at https://cetaf.org/
