2/ From the Antarctic Climate Forum, #CliC2026, the Panel of Experts on Polar Observations, Research and Services (PHORS), #MonacoPolarSymposium, the WMO INFCOM Management Meeting, and World Day for Glaciers and World Water Day at UNESCO, one message is clear: we cannot move forward in silos.
A month on, we’re reflecting on the success of #CLIC2026! 🌍
It was great meeting new faces and connecting with the environmental sciences community.
If you attended, follow us to stay in touch.
Look out for our special issue on the cryosphere and climate! 🙌

I presented at the #CLIC2026 conference in Wellington, New Zealand, this Feb - a huge step, I'd previously never been beyond southern France. It was one of the best experiences of my life. Many great talks, great research, Wellington and NZ in general were amazing, the locals were very welcoming.
#clic2026 Thanks to International Glaciological Society Early career research Glaciologists Group (IGS-EGG) for supporting my travel to the CLIC meeting. Lots of good memories and connections. @clicwcrp.bsky.social
@scar-antarctic.bsky.social INSTANT workshop following the @clicwcrp.bsky.social #CLIC2026 meeting in Wgtn NZ. Outlining progress on the aims and the activities over the last few years, and with 2 years to go… thinking about the next phase.
What made #CliC2026 particularly special were the perspectives of indigenous communities, their participation in scientific research and methods of storytelling. This reinforced the fact that science is only as good as its impact. Thankyou @clicwcrp.bsky.social
Even more highlights! #CliC2026 ❄️
1. Plenary panel Science to Solutions
2. Rob DeConto speaks on Antarctica's future
3. Narelle van der Wel speaks on high-level ambitions for the global cryosphere
4. WCRP JSC Chair Tim Naish closes the CliC OSC

THANK YOU to the cryosphere community for coming out in force to support the CliC Open Science Conference! ❄️🧊🇳🇿
We're so grateful to all of the incredible students, early career researchers, indigenous scholars, and veteran scientists that made #CliC2026 a huge success.
#CliC2026 is ending! 💙
Exciting days connecting with amazing researchers. Thanks to everyone who spoke with us.
We look forward to continuing our work together to deepen understanding of climate research and natural sciences.
Follow to stay tuned! 🤝

Final slide in the talk by @deepblueseanext.bsky.social #CLIC2026 @clicwcrp.bsky.social - love your energy and optimism.
Closing panel sessions discussions about the future of climate and cryosphere #Clic2026 @clicwcrp.bsky.social and future @scar-antarctic.bsky.social initiatives such as the IPY-5 in 2032-2033 and the Antarctica Insync from 2027-2030. Polar science is critical and we need to work collaboratively.
Science to solutions - keynote session #clic2026 @clicwcrp.bsky.social. Presentations from Rob De Conto, Rich Levy, Tandong Yao, Shin Sugiyama about how science can be used for solutions to the wicked problem of climate change in polar regions - including the third Pole (Tibetan plateau).
A glorious moment at #CliC2026: Prof. Tandong Yao has been awarded the Seligman Crystal Award by the International Glaciological Society—the field's highest honor.
This recognizes his decades of transformative work on the Tibetan Plateau, often called the "Asian Water Tower." A true pioneer. 🧊🏔️
On the international day for women and girls in science #IWDWGS - super proud of my research students working on oceanography and marine geoscience- most of whom are female - here Sienna Blanckensee giving a talk and Molly Husdell at #CLIC2026.
Storying the cryosphere #CLIC2026 keynote session chaired by @rkpriestley.bsky.social with talks by writer and researcher Elizabeth Leane, journalist and indigenous writer and outdoor enthusiast Nic Low, and Aunty Tania Te Huna an elder and waiata writer, and bar tailed godwit “kuala” guardian.

Lots of great info this week at the Climate and Cryosphere Open Science Conference. Everything from cutting edge ice sheet process studies to Indigenous prospectives from Alaska and Aotearoa New Zealand. Nice mix of grad students, early career folks up to venerable veterans. #CliC2026
There's something special about cryosphere conferences—maybe because the "ice people" are some of the warmest folks to talk to! ❄️Yesterday, a small editorial board meeting set the course for a conference #CliC2026 special issue in @aasjournal.bsky.social . Stay tuned! #Cryosphere
What an inspiring start to #CLiC2026 in Wellington!
@aasjournal.bsky.social joined global cryosphere researchers marking CLiC's 30th anniversary.
Sandy Morrison spoke on Indigenous knowledge integration, while co-chairs emphasized urgent action and accessible science.
Stay tuned!
