This event was made possible thanks to the support of several EU–funded projects, including #CLIMAREST, @twilighted-eu.bsky.social, #MACPuffinus, and #LIFEFreiras. It also received contributions from the Ma’at Environment Fund, which supports the MARE-Madeira Youth Ambassadors program.

With pilot projects in 5 demonstration areas across Europe, #CLIMAREST aims to develop scalable restoration strategies. This includes the #macroalgae ecosystem for Madeira's coast.

Through scientific research and real-world #restoration trials across the Arctic and Atlantic regions, #CLIMAREST is developing new strategies to support the recovery of coastal ecosystems — while also investing in tools that bridge science and society.

As part of the #CLIMAREST project, this innovative approach aims to enhance public engagement and #ocean #literacy, allowing users to experience these environments in a way that fosters a stronger emotional connection and deeper understanding than traditional imagery.

Fantastic week at #EUOceanDays in Brussels! 🌊

We began with a workshop on key elements for successful marine restoration, joined by partners from #HorizonEU projects ( #CLIMAREST, #A-AAGORA, #marineSABRES ) and #SEREurope.

Huge thanks to all who participated!

As part of the #EUmissions #HorizonEU #CLIMAREST project, our scientific dive team has been monitoring transplanted #algae grown in a controlled environment and deployed on LSWs at four pre-defined sites (two inside an #MPA and two outside).

This initiative was part of the #CLIMAREST project, funded by the EU through the Horizon Europe program, which aims to restore the region’s macroalgae ecosystems.
