I mostly didn't follow #crcsynod this year. Most of what I did see didn't surprise me given the (hostile?) takeover of the denomination by hard right fundamentalists and Christian nationalists in recent years.

More advisory committee meetings this morning. The chair says they may be finished early enough to have a plenary session tonight #crcsynod

Advisory committees are meeting, so the hallways at Redeemer are mostly empty. The campus is pretty beautiful (although most of them are...) #crcsynod

CRCNA has posted a #crcsynod FAQ. While it discusses discipline and absolute and complete subscription to the letter of the synodical statements for the past 120 years, nowhere does the CRC (or the abide folks) have the bravery to actually *name* the churches under discipline.

#crcsynod has passed the 2B majority report.

This means that letters of protest—many of which explicitly articulate the sending churches' desire to remain with the CRC—will be processed as requests to disaffiliate.

#CRCSynod takes up report 1F Recommendation 1:

"That synod declare that any and all unrepentant sin, including all sin
addressed by Heidelberg Catechism Q&A 87 and Q&A 108, is a salvation issue."

"This is just the start of the conversation" they said in 2022. Now, on Friday, the entire council (and Minister) of my church is suspended for having the conversation. The CRC as we knew and loved is gone. #crcsynod

"Throughout the Bible, repeated calls to repentance is evident, and precedes forgiveness."

This was just said on the floor of #CRCSynod. This is one of the core theologies that underlies the decisions of the last two years.

It is also profoundly anti-Reformed.

#CRCSynod is taking up report 8D, which deals with non-compliant churches.

Seems fitting to be standing up at my best friend's wedding in San Francisco on Saturday. Gonna party for them, but also as a freed soul in response to this #CRCSynod 🏳️‍🌈

Looks like I'll never have to worry about being nominated to Classis or #CRCSynod. My church has a policy of welcoming everyone, regardless of sexuality, and that makes other people angry.

#CRCSynod is making it abundantly clear: if you do not 100%, without reservation, agree with the CRC confessions *as interpreted by Synod* then you are truly not wanted.

#CRCSynod is happening this week. Most of the deliberations this far have dealt with the mundane and typical work of the denomination. They've done a good job in keeping 2 days to tackle the expulsion of affirming members and churches and tightened the screws against any questioning of the orthodoxy
