Hung this up after returning from #CSEE2025 @csee-sceemtgs.bsky.social and starting another day of adminis-trivia.

I have no idea how to navigate the portal for approving a purchase order. Such a pain in the a$$.

Many thanks to CJFR Associate Editor Dr. Cathy Cullingham and @facetsjournal.bsky.social co-Editor-in-Chief Dr. Fanie Pelletier for co-hosting our workshop on performing peer review with @cdnsciencepub.com journal development specialists at #CSEE2025 last week in Sherbrooke, QC

Applied Conservation Research at NCC The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is a science-based organization that uses the best-available information to identify priority conservation actions.

Lastly (I said just a few #CSEE2025 highlights, right...?)

💫 Rich discussions about how science can inform #conservation, and vice versa. Great deal of interest in partnering with @ncccnc.bsky.social and other ENGOs, community groups, gov'ts, etc.

💫 Participating in @sweeet-ecoevo.bsky.social with speakers

* Prof. Rassim Khelifa, Concordia University:

* Dr. Shelby Bohn, @ualberta.bsky.social: www.shelbybohn.com

I learn a ton at #SWEEET. Insightful, constructive, tough yet kind.

💫 Cheering on Lily Charles, a masters student @uottawa.ca, to present her research!

Lily works with @hkharouba.bsky.social‬, @ncccnc.bsky.social, & ECCC to study monarch butterflies, including whether habitat restoration has made a difference...

Stay tuned for Lily's blog post for NCC. #CSEE2025

A lot happens during a busy conference, so I'm only sharing a few highlights #CSEE2025:

💫 Cheering on Amy Wiedenfeld (member of @ncccnc.bsky.social's Weston Family Conservation Science Fellowship Program & @ulethbridge.ca PhD candidate) to give a talk. See thread below!

#CSEE2025 had:

Clearly identifiable Local Organizing Committee members on-site --> all wearing unusual pink tshirts.

Doing so helps attendees to quickly find someone to answer Qs, find various rooms, etc. Different coloured lanyards don't cut it in big groups...

#CSEE2025 had:

An on-site photographer to take headshots. Free for participants and sign-up preference given to early-career folks.

Having a recent, crisp headshot helps make a good impression, useful for media, websites, etc. But not everyone has access to it.

Again, an equity issue!

#CSEE2025 had:

Asked the conference centre to arrange a designated, covered area for people to eat *outside*.

We spend so much time indoors... Research shows that even 15 min outside is good for us!

This practice is inclusive & equitable, incl for people wearing masks at indoor events (like me).

I finally got to meet Dr Eckert - just in time apparently, not only in terms of retirement but I was one of the last to stop by the poster as it was being dismantled. Scored some amazing creative trading cards 😍 #CSEE2025

I had the opportunity of presenting the first preliminary results of my project this week at #CSEE2025, which we hosted in Sherbrooke. I’m extremely grateful to have met amazing researchers and fellow students, most of which, love frogs as much as I do 🐸.

This week I had the opportunity to represent Université de Sherbrooke at #CSEE2025, presenting my research on Eastern chipmunk behaviour and life-history.
I am honoured to have been able to attend, and discuss the future of ecology and evolution with both new and old colleagues and friends.
