The #basilica occupied one side of the #forum. This building was huge, measuring 260 ft long and 182 ft wide. The basilica was used for civic events.
It must have dwarfed other buildings, standing roughly 65 ft high. #Caerwent #RomanBritain #Archaeology

Harry's strutted into one of #Roman Britain’s best-kept secrets! Founded in the late 1st C AD, Venta Silurum - #Caerwent , Wales - was a bustling Roman market town & capital of the Silures, occupied into the 4th C. Still boasts mighty town walls & mosaics. “Better than my tent,” says Harry.

Found at #Caerwent basilica a virtually uncirculated #coin of #Trajan struck 112-14 was found. It is unlikely to have been available in this condition for many years after those dates. It provides a good evidence for the building's construction.
