Right. Every county in NY state has one. Most cases important to me, eg. #CallahanVCarey and #EldredgeVKoch, come from the Supreme Court, New York County, or #SCtNYCo.

#OnThisDate in 1983, #EldredgeVKoch, 118 Misc.2d 163 (Sup.Ct., NY Co.) was decided: the NYC #RightToShelter for single men under #CallahanVCarey was extended to homeless women on the same terms.

You could have hierarchies of nested categories, and let readers choose how broad or narrow they want it when. I have #CallahanVCarey and #EldredgeVKoch in #SupCtNYCo in #lawsuits; you have #NewYork within #USA; you could have #Housing and #Homelessness within #HousingAndHomelessness.

I make hashtags out of concepts like #RightToShelter, names like #MayorAdams, and landmark lawsuits like #CallahanVCarey. It helps people find related tweets, current and future, mine and by others.

Indeed, the first decision in #CallahanVCarey mentioned frostbite and death; a #HolyNameShelter employee had often identified at city morgue former clients, whose cause of death was hypothermia, ie., who froze to death. (Link to decision in article.)

#OnThisDate in 1979, in the first decision in #CallahanVCarey, a temporary injunction was granted: NY city & state were ordered to open 750 new shelter beds for men and provide board for them.
The anniversary is the #RightToShelter day in NYC.

#OnThisDate in 1979, attorney #RobertHayes filed the landmark case #CallahanVCarey, which set the ground for the #RightToShelter in NYC for homeless men. You're poor, show up, ask for shelter, they can't turn you away for "insufficient resources".

#OnThisDate in 1981, the #CallahanVCarey consent decree was signed by the parties & "so-ordered" by the judge. This established a de-facto #RightToShelter and minimum shelter quality standards in NYC for homeless men, extended later 2 women & families.

To get shelter in NYC, under #CallahanVCarey, you have to be poor enough, show up at an intake shelter (open 24/7), and ask for it. This is how it should be.

Families also have to show proof of a "family-type relationship" and document where they stayed for the last 2 years. This is too much.
