Musée des beaux-arts curator Stephane Aquin recalls Mr. Archambault as an intense perfectionist: “He created from a plan and never varied from his vision. There was a surgical precision about his work that bordered on obsessive. While we were setting up the show, Archambault was constantly tinkering with the display. The works are colossal and very difficult to set up. But Louis would look at something and insist that it had to be moved a few inches to the left or the right. He didn’t care how many extra hours of work it might take. The end product had to match that vision that lived inside his head.”

Elegant in his mind and his manners, Mr. Archambault was always a gentleman: honest, loyal and authentic. In his sculpture, he sought out the spiritual, while in his heart he remained a purist. Near the end, he was a frail and soft-spoken man with thin white hair and a thin white beard. His voice was shaky but it was filled with a lifetime of love and admiration for his dear wife Mariette.

A one of a kind set of vintage 1960s 70s handmade copper enamel lava red orange on black modernist pitcher with six goblets by Hank Frugte of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Entirely handmade hand wrought copper forms that have been lavishly enameled in super vivid 'lava' red and orange shading to black, and then to bare copper at bottoms as shown. Hank (d. 1990) and his wife Diny (1929-2024) were originally from the Netherlands, but emigrated to Canada just after WWII and settled in Edmonton, Alberta. They were already trained enamelists and artists who brought their talents and experience with them to Edmonton, and created amazing artworks throughout their careers! They also shared their knowledge and experience with other artists in their area by teaching workshops and other educational endeavors. I've seen quite a few enameled plates and dishes and jewelry by them, but this is the only serving set that I've run across! The pitcher measures 11.5" tall by about 3.5" diameter. As you can see in the photos, the pitcher and the goblets are footed. The goblets are each unique and slightly different in height, but average about 4.5" tall by about 1.5" in diameter. Marked at bottom of the pitcher as shown, "Hank Frugte Edmonton". Overall excellent vintage condition with one of the goblets showing some unevenness at the rim which looks original to me but no damage or detractors whatsoever as shown.

Admiring the beautiful craftsmanship of Canadian moccasins today. Each stitch tells a story of tradition and quality. Supporting local artisans never felt so good (and comfy!). 🍁 #CanadianCraft #MoccasinLove #SupportLocal #MadeInCanada

Excited for my group critique today. I'm exploring a new direction and it's been very fulfilling. It's a sculptural series of work that is very personal to me. I can't wait to share it with you all.
